Being with you and learning from you was and is a profound gift. I will use what I learned and will continue to learn from your workshop in so many ways–as a grandmother, as a workshop facilitator, as a story-teller, as a writer, and as a spiritual being on a human journey.
Carolyn Wallace, Life Story Catcher
With “all that is going on” in our changing world, we are challenged to find new and creative ways to tell our stories and connect with our listeners. Connie is excited to transform her performance storytelling intensive workshop into an online version using the Zoom format.
Workshop participants learn new skills as we polish and adapt familiar techniques so we can continue to share our stories in a virtual way. Many have now experienced Connie’s approach to story feedback and are familiar with her ground rules for “appreciations,” deep listening, and partnering. This group setting also allows for more advanced coaching.
Taking Your Story to the Virtual Stage Overview
The focus of this intensive workshop is on storytelling performance and techniques to stream live online. Each participant is asked to come with a story that is almost “performance-ready.” The workshop begins on the Monday evening with attention paid to each participant’s individual set-up, along with breakout rooms for story work.
During the week between sessions, participants have time to continue working on their stories and set up, with the opportunity (for an additional fee) to work with storyteller Simon Brooks (pictured to the left) who is also an audio/video technician.
Thursday and Friday’s afternoon sessions continue group and partner exercises with individual feedback designed to smooth rough edges and polish your story and performance.
On Saturday evening the group meets at 6:30pm to double check our tech set-up, with the performance beginning at 7:00pm. Connie emcees the performance and introduces each storyteller. You will have the option of recording your own story on Zoom. (Please note: it hasn’t been decided if the performance will only be for workshop participants or open to the public. Connie welcomes your feedback before she makes a decision.)
Sunday afternoon, each participant has group focused time to reflect on her/his performance and then receive individualized feedback, appreciations, coaching, and suggestions from Connie and the other participants.

Wow! Last night’s show was a wonderful success and it came off so smooth. I loved the venue, the variety of tellers and the energy! It was a joy to be in the audience.

Here’s what past “Taking the Stage” workshop participants are saying:
Thanks Connie for your excellent leadership! I learn so much every time I am with you. My storytelling has flourished under your nurture! It was a fun, fruitful weekend full of insight, growth, and love.
Connie sets the tone and creates a safe environment that encourages you to get out of your comfort zone and try new things.
Our workshop with Connie was brimming with the poetry, laughter, quiet, memory and adventure of Story. How Connie held this overflowing container, without losing one single juicy drop, is one of the great, sweet mysteries of my life.
I’m grateful to be able to experience you, your teaching, and storytelling fresh and new and alive each time. You take my breath away—literally!
