Not only are you a masterful storyteller and coach, you are an excellent workshop leader. I loved watching how you facilitated the group to bring out the best in everyone, shared your knowledge, and encouraged us to go to the edge and jump.

I appreciated the techniques to calm down. Most of all, I liked the appreciations. They built my confidence by making me identify the many things I was doing right.

Connie has delighted many by offering storytelling workshops for over 25 years. A number of her past workshop participants requested more advanced coaching in a group setting for those who are experienced in Connie’s approach to story feedback and are familiar with her ground rules for “appreciations”, deep listening, and partnering.

Taking Your Story to the Stage Overview

Taking Your Story to the Stage is focused on storytelling performance

The focus of this three-day workshop is on storytelling performance. Each participant is asked to come with a story that is almost “stage-ready.” The small group gathers at Connie’s home, tucked in the beautiful mountains surrounding Asheville, NC.  This workshop intensive provides a supportive, affirming atmosphere to nurture each storyteller’s performance skills and confidence. The first day begins with group and partner exercises and individual feedback designed to smooth rough edges and polish your story and performance.

Then on Saturday, in preparation for the live performance, participants engage in sound and light checks to familiarize themselves with the performance space. That evening, the group meets to welcome our audience for the performance. The theatre is a warm intimate space and our “Slice of Life” shows have consistently been full of enthusiastic listeners. Connie emcees the performance and introduces each storyteller.

On the final day, each participant has group focused time to reflect on her/his performance and then receive individualized feedback, appreciations, coaching, and suggestions from Connie and the other participants.

Wow! Last night’s show was a wonderful success and it came off so smooth.  I loved the venue, the variety of tellers and the energy! It was a joy to be in the audience.

What participants are saying:

  • Intense and magical
  • Just sitting in the same room for three days with such talented, beautiful, creative people, steeping in beauty – I feel inspired to deepen my relationship with creativity.
  • Intense and Rewarding. Opportunity to take risks and grow with others who care about stories and those who tell them.
  • This workshop offers a retreat environment in which realignment occurs allowing freedom for the story to take the stage as I, the entertainer, offer it as a gift to the audience.
  • I found the environment that Connie constructed through relaxation and awareness exercises, created a safe environment conducive to creativity, reflection and open listening to myself and those around me.
  • This workshop is one of the best ways to take one story you love, focus on it intensely with Connie and other committed, loving tellers in a super, supportive environment and then polish it up and let it shine at the live performance.

Thanks Connie for your excellent leadership! I learn so much every time I am with you. My storytelling has flourished under your nurture! It was a fun, fruitful weekend full of insight, growth, and love.
