Workshops: Taking Your Story to the Stage

A Three-Day Storytelling Intensive Workshop

December 1-3, 2017

Asheville, North Carolina

“Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius and magic and power in it.”

–Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Connie has delighted many by offering storytelling workshops for over 25 years. A number of her past workshop participants requested more advanced coaching in a group setting for those who are experienced in Connie’s approach to story feedback and are familiar with her ground rules for “appreciations”, deep listening, and partnering.

Taking Your Story to the Stage Overview

Taking Your Story to the Stage is focused on storytelling performance

The focus of this three-day workshop is on storytelling performance. Each participant is asked to come with a story that is almost “stage-ready.” The workshop begins on the first morning with group and partner exercises and individual feedback designed to smooth rough edges and polish your story and performance. In preparation for the evening performance at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, participants go through sound and light checks and familiarize themselves with the performance space on the next day.

That evening the group meets at 6:45pm to welcome our audience for the performance beginning at 7:30pm. Connie will emcee the performance and introduce each storyteller (videographer services available at additional cost).

On the final day, each participant will have the opportunity for reflection and self-assessment as well as receive individualized feedback, appreciations, coaching, and suggestions from Connie and the other participants.

“Taking Your Story to the Stage” is open only to those who have previously studied with Connie. If you have not had this opportunity and/or Connie has not heard you tell a story, a private coaching session may be required.

Our workshop with Connie was brimming with the poetry, laughter, quiet, memory and adventure of Story. How Connie held this overflowing container, without losing one single juicy drop, is one of the great, sweet mysteries of my life.
